Saving Birds Thru Habitat was established to help stem the decline of our migratory songbird populations. The three-cornered keystone of our program is to introduce children to the fascinating aspects of our bird world; to encourage homeowners to return their yards to native plantings, and to persuade businesses and property owners with large holdings to maintain existing habitat. |
Our Habitat Discovery Center is located on three acres and is adjacent to a forty-four acre private sanctuary. This sanctuary was established in 1993 to aid slumping songbird populations. Since that time, it has hosted more than sixty nesting species. An additional hundred species have used the property for foraging during migration.
While the sanctuary is not generally open to the public, SBTH has the right to use the property for classes and field trips. Private tours are available by appointment. |

The Discovery Center is open from mid-April through mid-October, every Wednesday through Saturday between 9:00 AM and 4:00 PM and on Sunday from 1:00 PM til 4:00 PM.. The Discovery Center trail is open from 7:00 AM to 8:00 PM daily during the same months.
SBTH also offers a slide presentation which demonstrates how to aid migrating birds right in your own backyard. Call, write or email to schedule this delightful program for your school, church, club, library or service organization.
